Military Orders Added National Guard Presence in Gulf Coast (text)

September 1, 2005: Some 22,000 National Guard troops will join forces already deployed along the Gulf Coast in an effort to bring security and calm to the region in what officials predict may be the largest military response to a natural disaster in U.S. history.
