Hellicane: Poets Respond to Hurricane Katrina

The \"little people\" all around the world -\r\nWhile waters rose and vicious winds unfurled -\r\nCombined to mourn the loss\r\nThat sadly came across\r\nThe airways as Katrina\'s anger whirled\r\n\r\nThey felt so helpless as they watched that scene\r\nOf refugees and plans that might have been\r\nEngulfed in awful pain\r\nAmid the pelting rain\r\nWhile they sat safely back - but not serene\r\n\r\nThey resolved to help all those in need\r\nToday is such a time, oh yes, indeed!\r\nKatrina\'s had her say\r\nAnd broke a waterway\r\nAnd left the Gulf Coast there, alone, to bleed!\r\n\r\n\"What can we do for them?\" becomes their cry\r\n\"But for God\'s grace that surely could be I!\"\r\nThey count their meager wealth\r\nWithout a thought for Self\r\nAnd organize their fellows passing by\r\n\r\n\"The \'widow\'s mite\' is mightier than the crown\"\r\nWhenever there is need, she will come down\r\nCorporations\' millions\r\nEven U.S. billions\r\nDo not relate when \"little people\" drown
