Mount Carmel Academy Carmelette Dance Team, located in the heart of Lakeview. They have won five national champion titles, 30 state champion titles in the last thirty-five years. Gloria Dora has been the moderator for the last thirty-one years. This image was collected in a workshop with students from the Mount Carmel Academy in the Lakeview neighborhood of New Orleans. The Mount Carmel Academy is a private, Catholic secondary school for girls in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. It is conducted by the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who have educated young ladies in New Orleans since 1833.
